Can anybody verify that the TC-14E III autofocuses with this lens? This link from Nikon says "AF not possible":

    http://www.nikonusa.com/en_INC/IMG/Assets/Common-Assets/Images/Teleconverter-Compatibility/EN_Comp_chart.html

I plan on using it with a D600, which can supposedly focus at f/8, so f/5.6 should be ok.

    Thanks,

There are multiple reviews out there that used the TC-14E III with good results, so you should be fine.

There are no issues with the TC-14E III with the new AFS Nikon 300mm F4 PF E ED VR lens. That table is wrong. There are several users that have tried it with no issues. Check the reviews on B&H and on the Internet.

I just got my TC-14E III and a new 77mm B+W filter for this lens. Now if only the dealers would get the lens in stock.

According to this review, it is capable of autofocusing:
    https://photographylife.com/reviews/nikon-300mm-f4e-pf-ed-vr

As well if you check the reviews page of B&H:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1052071-REG/nikon_2219_af_s_teleconverter_tc_14e_iii.html

People have commented that it works with the 300PF.

Not sure what Nikon is doing here saying AF is not possible...

Thanks, Mikeal. I've been searching the web too, and found this:

    https://photographylife.com/reviews/nikon-300mm-f4e-pf-ed-vr/6

where someone asked if AF worked since Nikon says it doesn't and there was this response:
"I have the lens and purchased a TC-14EIII for it and the two seem to be working very well together. I’ve only had it for a few days so far, but the AF works just as well as without from my experience. Hope that helps."
The review also mentions using the TC-14E III in the article:
"When mounting the TC-14E II or TC-14E III, the 300mm f/4E VR focuses a little bit faster."

"BEWARE THIS LENS."??? Sounds more like "BEWARE THIS REPAIR CENTRE." to me.
Send it back and tell them to fix it this time.
    +1 spraynpray. Totally agree.

FYI, just got my standard email from Adorama, the 300mm F4 PF is still on back order. I ordered it in early June.
Any particular reason you are getting it from B&H? Amazon has at least one available when I checked last night.
    D5200, D5000, S31, 18-55 VR, 17-55 F2.8, 35 F1.8G, 105 F2.8 VR, 300 F4 AF-S (Previously owned 18-200 VRI, Tokina 12-24 F4 II)

@tcole1983. I buy most of my stuff from B&H but they would NOT price match Adorama. Both are selling the 300mm F4 PF at the same price but Adorama is offering 2% back in awards. Both are free shipping and of course no sales tax. So I went with Adorama. I even sent an email to B&H Customer Service and they said no they would not price match the rewards program. Hey $40 is half the cost of a good filter.

I did check Amazon and it was the same price or $4 more with free shipping and no sales tax and more important, no 2% back.

Also walked into Roberts Camera in over the 4th of July and they had one on the shelf but it would have cost me $170 in taxes so I passed. Got home and called them and that lens was gone. Also saw one of the northern IN camera dealers on eBay had one on auction and sent him a note. Seller said to call him and when I did the auction had just closed and that was the last one he had.

Yes, I am price sensitive on this item so I am going to wait for that large shipment they have coming that will cover all outstanding orders.

FYI, they're still listed at the NikonUSA.com website for $1999.95, a friend ordered one yesterday and it shipped today.

I got one from amazon (sold by amazon directly) the other day when there were 2 available, the second one lasted about 24 hours before getting snatched up. It was $1996.95

Interesting and a great suggestion. I actually checked Amazon last night and they are out of stock...of course. Also checked eBay and if you exclude all the Japan seller's, there was only one dealer selling them in the USA. Also checked Roberts Photo in Indianapolis, Indiana and they were out of stock. On a hunch I also checked Best Buy and of course they have them in stock.

My video review got delayed a bit due to some personal stuff, but I took the 300 PF out last night to get some shots of the moon. I was astounded when I was able to resolve Saturn's rings with my D7000 (even if it's just 12 pixels across!)

Sure! Here are links to the flickr pages to each image, it should contain the full EXIF:

The dates in the metadata are wrong, I was just too lazy to fix the date on my camera. All three images were taken yesterday.
