Updating the D4 firmware from 1.02 to 1.10

Having issues updating firmware from 1.02 to 1.10 on the D4. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a work around? I'll be sending the camera off this winter for cleaning and such but I'd like the firmware now. I've never had any issues with my other Nikons before updating firmware so I thought this problem might be unique. Battery is fully charged and also tried it with the power cable..no luck.
