Audio hiss on P340 video

I recently purchased a P340 and have been learning all about its photo features and finally got around to trying the video element of the camera. I am very disappointed to discover all the videos have a very annoying hissing sound even if you video in a completely silent room. The camera seems to have very little video controls, only the size and quality. If you hook it up to a TV and playback video I find it unacceptable. Is there a fix for this?
