If the D400 comes out I don't think it will come as a kit (no lens). You will have to buy one or use what you have.

I am on board with this lens. I have not purchased a D7100 and am patiently waiting for the D400. When that arrives and if this lens keeps getting good reviews (as above) it will be my first choice for the lens I would put on a D400.

@Golf007sd ......thanks for the video! It would be interesting to know what the ISO is when it starts to get noisy as the video stated. I have a hard time shooting bands in a bar, this could be the answer.

I do have a D7100 and I've had it on order for several months. I see that it has been, once again, pushed to the third week in september. Does anyone know why the push? How about other countries? Does this mean their is a problem? Any info would be appreciated.

BrucePhotography looks like Adorama has them $799.00. Can't get into B&H for some reason but they are the same price.
