I know this topic has probably been beat to death on this forum and others, but just wanted to gather everyones thoughts together in one place on this topic. Was the D800 the successor to the D700 - many think not. Was the D600 - probably not. So will there be a FF pro bodied camera from Nikon with the smaller body size of the D700? I know everyone is thinking the next pro body will be the d400, and maybe it will. But will there ever be an update to the D700. I am thinking D4 sensor, weather sealed, lots of external control interface knobs and buttons, 8fps...you get the picture - like the D700 was to the D3. Or was the D700 just a one time phenomena?

Yes the D800 was the successor to the D700 (and a brilliant successor too)
No will we will not get a D710
and IMHO will not get a D400 ether
