Some of you may remember this post I made on the old forum;

Well, I finally worked out a fix.

Take the memory card out.

I have a Sandisk 32GB Extreme. Anyone else have this issue with this card, or any other cards?

    There's no problem with the memory card.

    With the memory card inserted, Lightroom will attempt to read some data from each and every file in the memory card, before finally enabling tethering.

    So if the card has a lot of files in it, then it will take a long time for Lightroom to complete this metadata read (possibly minutes, depending on how full the card is). The green CF light on the back of the camera should remain on while this read is happening, and Lightroom will remain in the "no camera detected" mode until the read process completes.

    You can either take the card out (as you've discovered), or format the card before tethering (so there's no data to read), or simply wait until Lightroom completes reading the image data. The green CF light will turn off and Lightroom should then go into tether mode.

    Thanks for that. Card out it is.

    On a side note I am using Digicamcontrol as featured on the blog here:

    http://nikonrumors.com/2013/05/11/free-open-source-tethering-software-for-nikon-dslr-cameras.aspx/

    to achieve live view while tethering. Adobe says it is Nikon cameras that can't enable live view while in PC mode, but there is obviously a way to do it. Digicamcontrol is really nice, and it's free.

    I then have a watched folder in Lightroom, that auto applies all my settings on import.
