d7100 rear button a/f

on my old d300s i could use the rear button to a/f and the normal front button to fire the shutter ,does anyone know the settings sequence to do this on the d7100

to take it a bit further on the d300s it was a/f on the rear button and still retaining a/f and shutter on the front button .i found this super for tracking birds in flight .can it be done on the 7100

    Yes, the AF-L/AE-L button can be set to AF-ON. You cannot have dual function, as on the higher end bodies, so you can either have the shutter or the AF-L/AE-L focus, but not both.
