Everyone is free to invest as much as they want for the camera they own. If I planned on spending $5000 on equipment , the first thing I'd do would be to use the first $1,500 to upgrade to FF.

Isn't image quality the reason people upgrade to full frame ? I am just saying there is bigger gain in getting a Full Frame and just ONE lens less than piling expensive lenses on a DX body. Just buy the damn FF first and then continue piling as the first reason you are spending that sort of money is because you are after IQ.

@Msmoto, We know the D90 is not your only camera. The question is would you spend another $5000 on 2 lenses if you ONLY HAD the D90 or would you spare maybe $1500-$2000 on switching to FF first. ( and please for a minute forget you are a racing/sports car fan/photographer :-) - don't believe tiCreativeMedia is a birder, either ! )

One must also keep in mind there is less in gap between FF and APS-C than the D90 days .....

Anyways, my opinion ...Not here to teach anyone how to spend their money.

I agree FX has it over DX in low light, but other 'advantages' are even more subtle and less important.

I am told an advantage of Dx with telephone telephoto lenses is "reach"
when it comes FX and ultra wide angel lenses there is the advantage of breadth
put a FX lens on a DX Camera and some of the breadth of the lens will be lost

It's the darn spell check in the iPad that's frustrating the heck out of me.
It don't know Jack about photography equipment. What a shame.
Now it's giving me attitude and even started underlining my name. Grrr!!

You know you can turn auto correct off... right?
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

TTJ is right on with the comment on used lens. Although I only did that once, it does save you some money. Having moved about 17 months ago I am always amazed at the quality of used lens and DSLR bodies that have circulated through the local camera store. There are some good used lens out there.

For example, they had the 80-400 a few weeks ago and it was in perfect condition - clean to the point it looked brand new. It only lasted one week. Even though it was the older model it was a deal. I have seen a very clean D300S with less than 3K clicks that has been traded in twice and they sold it to the original buyer. The D700 had under 2K click and looked like it came out of the box and never used. Have seen 70-200mm F2.8, 105mm, and a few wide angle lens that were very clean. The area I moved from the used stuff was either beat up pretty bad or was very normal wear. It was rare to see clean lens that had been well cared for. Must be this area.

... DX vs. FX is primary in the mind of the beholder. Maybe one can even say DX for long shots, FX for wide landscapes….?
One of Thom Hogan's latest posts basically argues exactly this. Zoomers and croppers are better served by smaller high-density sensors with fast glass in front of them. The biggest reasons for full frame are wide angle and bokeh junkies. I'd throw in there that I lust for full frame mostly because of the viewfinder.

Mirrorless may solve that in time.

Yes of course it can be cancelled, but when I need it, it's wonderful.
Yeah, although I feel it's so invasive, yet dumb to most technical terminology.

It was supposed to learn my writing style and remember my favourite words, but it doesn't do that for me.
Ever since the last major updated iOS. Siri was slightly updated too, now has several new choices ~ voices.

The camera 'firmware' was also updated. The improvements were most welcome.

well, my fear with used is the lack of a warranty, and the shorter warranty period on refurbished. I don't trust people trying to sell stuff used and have had LOTS of bad experiences with that on other things. I do like the idea of refurbished stuff though ecologically, but I do plan on keeping this for a very long time, if not forever.
