i am looking to pick up a few lights for some product stuff, and was planning on getting some yongnuos and a light tent, but a friend of a friend has this kit they have to sell. i asked them to simply send me a copy of the reciepts so i could see exactly what they had, but they sent these pictures instead
obviously its some kind of bowens stuff, but i cant tell what exactly .... can anyone identify it? i am trying to work out how much its worth, i will go to their house and see it later
its probably overkill for what i need .. but if the price is right i might be tempted ....
oh, and does stuff like this require much maintenance? do batteries/bulbs need to be replaced much, i dont want a financial drain
I use a Bowens 400/400 kit for my studio stuff. It comes as a kit with stands and reflective umbrellas. Really cost effective set up.
Looks like that kit has 3 500w or 750w heads. Unless you are shooting in a big studio or location stuff it's not really necessary. There's also a travelpak in there to power the lights when on location. It is a great piece of kit if you are doing location shoots, otherwise it's an expensive door stop. The rest looks to be be a few light modifiers. You can look up the price of the stuff to see what you can get it for locally. If he's selling it for the right money it will more than suit. But if what you're photographing could be done with a light tent and a couple of flash guns this is most definitely overkill.
I'm across the pond so prices are going to be a bit different. To buy all that stuff new here would be over £2000, which comes close to $3500.
It depends on what your needs are and what you want to spend. This is a set up for something like a location fashion shoot. It's also a lot to carry about if you don't need it.
yeah, for the product stuff, i definitely dont need it, although i really like the idea of modeling lights
the person that is selling it also wants to me to shoot some parties she hosts, so i would be able to use them to take pics of women in their dresses and stuff also, so it might be useful for that
