It comes at the expense of sharpness so I think you can rest easy.

This latest hack could marginally increase DR without reducing sharpness.

It can be used in combination with an older hack, called "dual_iso", which does reduce sharpness for better DR.

Yeah, but by a measly 0.4 EV, and if you dig into the developer forum code, there is debate as to whether it is real or digital artifact of the way canon handles non-base ISO values. Nothing to see here, move along...
