I am Looking to buy the Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Lens. I am finding that it is hard to find. Could it be that a new version of it is coming out or the possible rebates. Did anyone hear anything

Thanks,
JKC916

Really...I am surprised that you are having a hard time buying a new 24-70mm. Have you checked B&H and Adorama? This is the first I have heard of this lens not being available.

Yes of all the Nikkor lenses available here where I live, this has to be the easiest to find. Tremendous price range as well used, new or grey market you name it. Cheapest used is $1300 and cheapest new $1600 in Seoul :) The shelf life for Nikons pro mid-range zooms are usually around 10 years and this big beauty came out in 2007 as I am sure we all fondly remember.

Details are not in yet for 2014, but last year the instant rebate on the 24-70mm Nikkor was $200 so expect a similar savings this year I would imagine. Refurbs have lower resale value, and sometimes dodgy warranties so if I were you I would spring for a rebate lens. Maybe they will be officially announced after the Coolpix Press Conference on Feb 12th?

I don't see it on rebates, but please shop around before buying the lens new. Fredmiranda.com and Nikonians.org are excellent sites for super good deals. Believe me. Go to forums section of each and search to your heart's content.

I actually just bought this lens and have not even used it. Found it at local target, where it was bought as online only item and returned. Therefore, the price markdown (in store) was $300. If it's not leagues better than my 24-120VR than auction block is the destination.
