And It would have been a hassle to have two plates at once.
Or having to remove the top strap connection from the camera strap holder.
When switching between this new shoulder strap and tripod, this strap will have to be unscrewed from the tripod mount, but left attached by the second safety strap? And or removed by unclipping it completely...
Michael, no, I have only examined them in my favourite camera store. They are nice, although price didn't impress me...
Eh, you didn't mention which lens/camera combination you use your BlackRapid strap with?
How big of a lens, weight wise, are you hanging from your camera? Just curious.
I like this new Nikon design. And so may yet consider buying one for my D800.

What I would NOT be interested in is a strap with golden-lettered "Nikon" emblazoned on it. Might as well just carry around a great big sign saying "Mug Me!"
As it is, I've already defaced the existing logo with gaffer tape. I suppose if the Nikon ones were actually cheaper (good luck with that...), a newcomer could buy one of those instead and use a little tape and come out ahead...
Thanks for the thought.
That's actually an interesting little bit of gear!

Seems there is a fix for anything these days.
Or buy a nifty 3D printer and make it yourself...

Well, I'm fortunate, in that I rarely travel to locations of dangerous beings, roaming the streets.
I'm more afraid of the local police forces and government, than the criminal elements here...
The Nikon name is quite small on this new strap. Easier to cover.
Sad to admit, the quality of life in a free society.
Maybe I'll just stick to the current setup and continue to suffer the neck/shoulder ailment.
I usually leave my camera in the Lowepro toploader with 24-120mm attached.
If I need the 80-400mm, I just change the lens and place the 24-120mm in its cloth bag into the lens case or top loader.
It would always be nice to shave off some carrying weight though... Even only a few ounces.

Just a very good eye here... ;-) Um, or do you know something we don't?

Is there another way ?
and Golf recommended a name brand strap that I never heard of or want to buy .. ever...
I have the blackrapids sport strap and it works great and I'm anti Nikon branding on straps too.
for the neck i use a op/tech that is comfortable and snaps away leaving the pig tail on camera when I use the BR strap.
For a strap, I use a dual bungee rifle carrier that I modified to make it for cameras; very comfortable and you could carry a 600 tele all day on there no problem. That said, I still prefer a bag with comfy shoulder strap because of the bump protection it affords.

I have used the op/tech strap for many years and really like it. I was thinking of trying the RRS bracket to screw into the RRS "L" bracket. Anyway, how do ou like the RRS bracket solution?

I am still waiting to buy my RRS replacement collar for my 80-400mm lens.
So will save my judgement for quality of workmanship and finish, until then. Before making further purchase from RRS.
This and several other companies seem to have mostly all the necessary bases covered, very well!
