D4s Card Errors and Other Discussions

i get a card error with the d4s on the delkin 1000x udma card, it worked fine with the nikon d800, i formatted it with the d4s and it still comes up with intermittent card errors.

any help appreceated

There are only two supported CF brands for the D4s, SanDisk and Lexar. Page 463 in the manual. Using Delkin is like putting cheap gas in a sports car, YMMV.

picked up a lexar udma7 card and it works like a charm

Certain Lexar udma7 cards are known to cause issues with the D4s:

Nikon has most definitely messed up this time, as the problem is much more extensive than the two batches from Lexar.

I have lots of CF cards from Lexar (16, 32 & 64 GB) used simultaneously on D3S and D4 without any issues. NONE of these cards can be read by D4S!

D4S will only format these cards after several re-inserts, but then these cards are unreadable to D4 (and D3S).

Between D4 and D4S it's the exact same thing with all XQD cards as well (32 & 64 GB from Lexar and Sony).

A firmware fix is urgently needed!
