Sensor cleaning -- do you do it yourself?

The archives have a number of posts about cleaning, but none that seem to answer basic questions. So, here we go:

My D7K's sensor desperately needs to be cleaned. I am tempted to do it myself, but have heard stories of folks managing to commit sensor-murder during the process. Others say that killing a sensor requires real effort, and that the money on a cleaning kit is far better spent than paying a shop for a cleaning. (I think I saw a post to that effect earlier today, although I am not sure in which thread.) So I am wondering if most folks here clean their own sensors, whether anyone has damaged one doing so, and what kit or supplies folks recommend.

Thanks!

I clean my own sensors when needed, and have never had a problem.

I use Visible Dust brushes and fluid.

When I first started, I went through a few brushes learning the best way to do it, which is painful because they are not cheap, but never felt like I was in any danger of damaging the sensor.

    Best of luck.

Cleaning your sensor is not a very difficult task. Have a look at this topic and hopefully it will help you out.
