Hi, I've noticed that when VR is turned ON/OFF there is a "click" sound louder than the 28-300 lens, is that normal for this lens?, thanks

When VR is turned on, you will hear the system in operation...some louder than others. If you feel that it is to loud, send it in to Nikon and have it checked out.

I think the louder click is normal. I don't think the internal mechanism is the same as the 28-300, or any other VR. This is more of snap as the mechanism is disengaged, isn't it?

As noted what you are hearing is normal. You will also hear a clunking sound when you set the VR mechanism to off.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

I had the same initial concerns with my 105mm micro lens. The VR is much louder most VR lenses and I've had no problems with the lens thus far.

I have a 105 mm macro too, and I can't really compare as it's my only lens with VR. But I still have to say the VR is pretty loud.

I also concur. I had the same "issue" before with my 105mm micro, its VR whenever its engaged or disengaged has a prominent click-clacking sound compared to my 70-200mm. I thought the internal mechanism is faulty. No problem with it though. It just sound like that, "annoyingly" loud.
