This may been hashed out somewhere already, and I have been reading the reviews of the new Sigma 50mm ART lens, but I haven't found a lot of comparisons with the "original" Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM.
I have the original one, and would like to know what I can expect from the ART version that I do have now? Unfortunately there this is special order and I can't go to a shop and try it out...
Thanks for the link and the summary. My gear pusher has given me a great deal on a D810 and a Siggy 50mm ART. I am really tempted. Unfortunately I already have the 50mm EX DG, but of course I could sell that one...
@Killerbob: Sounds like that old lens is headed toward eBay. As PitchBlack said, get the D810 and the Siggy 50mm ART, you won't be unhappy. Everybody on NRF that buys it seems to love the IQ.

+1
I could not have said it any better.

I got the 50mm ART, and now just waiting to get home and try it out... Didn't splurge for the D810, even though it was very very tempting. Perhaps I'll sell the D7000 and all my DX lenses first, and then get the D810.

I was going to say keep the longer DX lens when you buy the D810 then I looked at your lens and those long ones are FF. I like your idea, just sell off the DX lenses to help pay for the DX810.

I'll sell off the D7000 along with the 10-24mm, 16-85mm, 35mm f/1.8G, and the 50mm f/1.8G. I don't know if I'll sell the Tamron 70-300mm; I like it, and as it is a bit smaller than the Nikon 80-400mm, I sometimes use it on the D800 as well.
I like your idea, keep the Tamron lens and sell the others. All those lens should be easy to sell. Although I am not sure how easy the 16-85mm would be to sell.

I went through the same process, @Killerbob. Including hesitation to get a D810. Don't think your hesitation will last long… If you ever borrow or rent one, you'll be lost. Promise.
What JJ_SO is saying: Don't ever try a D810 :-) Until you do you will be happy with your D800. I will at one point break down and buy a Sigma 50 1.4 Art. But I will never try a D810. The money I "save" I will invest in better glass.

Good plan.... i will do that too.. control your ignorance for sanity sake.

@henrik1963 & @heartyfisher - come on guys. You will love the lens but when you put it with the D800 or D810 you will find the perfect match. Just ask PitchBlack. "Ignorance means missing bliss."
