Lucked out this weekend and got a series of shots featuring the Aurora Borealis! More to come on future PADs. D800 + Tokina 16-28mm @ 16mm. ISO 800. f/2.8. 20s exposure.
The conditions for this are right about two evenings a year. Tough to get the lighting just right. No matter what you spot meter for — the sky, the water, the moon, or the mountains — something's going to be off. I ended up using matrix metering and dialing the EV down by 2/3 of a stop, but not after a lot of experimentation. D800 | 70-200 | 95mm | f/5.6 | 3s | ISO 320 | -2/3 EV

@Golf007sd Thanks, living in a coast rainforest with plenty of rivers and small lakes is a blessing for sure! I'm hoping to get back to that lake in a few weeks when the fall colours peak!

If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.
@dissent, it is so much fun to see your airshow shots, they are great.
I will post a couple old ones, every 2 year there is a show - Wings and Wheels - on Gilze airbase. You never see so many ferrari's, daimlers and antique cars together. Others on this forum like those too, I think
O, this is 2003 and I made it with my first digital camera, the Porche design Fuji FinePix6800 ZOOM. Is'nt that fun?

Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it!
