Timing a D7100 purchase

Nikon currently has some package deals going on for the D7100 body and lens kits, which ends on 11/22. Black friday/cyber monday is quickly approaching after that. My question is, based on past years and experience with Nikon, should I buy with their current deal or can I expect something at least comparable in the Black Friday sales? My current thinking is that the Black Friday scenarios are marketed more towards the masses with deals focused on the lower end gear so it may not be the path I want to choose.

Any input would be appreciated.

    First welcome to NRF. Great question, from my experience you will see the D3200 & D3300 and the D5200 & D5300 on sale until Christmas. Heavy discounts on the D3200 and D5200 for black friday and cyber Monday. I would expect to see the D7100 kit on sale for $50 or $100 off but not much more all the way until Christmas.

    Would not expect another rebate/instant rebate sale until Spring. Typically twice or three times per year. My suggestion is to buy now....we don't know if the next sale will be in Feb, April, May, etc. Nikon's bottom line is hurting so their should be another sale in February. You could wait and it could be a long one. The last few sales have been buy DSLR and one lens or more than one lens for an instant rebate. They use to run the rebates for buying lens, not tied to a DSLR purchase. My hunch is we are going to see this in the Spring to spur an increase in lens sales.

    Finally don't forget that the Nikon Store has 10% off on refurbished DSLR's, lens, flashes, and P&S cameras.

    If Nikon announces at CES the D7200, we may see $100 off the D7100. Lots to thing about.

    Amazon had the body only last year on black Friday for $799. Best price I have seen since it was released.

    Make sure it is NOT a grey market import model. At that price point it sounds like a refurbished model and not new with a USA warranty.

    the price was real for a new USA model.
    Its one of the reasons why I know we are all being taken to the cleaners when it comes to buying Nikon products LOL.
    I wish Amazon would given us bargain basement D810 pricing...

    It was for a new non-grey market camera. It was the actual one good black friday deal and in pretty limited quantities. I don't know if we will see anything like that this year.
