I tried to check the latest firmware update for my new D3200 but the Nikon Europe website will not load. The version given in my settings are; C 1.03 and L 2.002. Anyone else having trouble with Nikon Europe?
Not to be a party pooper... but is there any reason you'd be looking forward to a firmware update? I have a D7000, and I've yet seen any reason to update it. Usually it's just lens distortion profiles... of lenses I don't own.
I got through to the website a bit later and downloaded lens distortion profiles for the Nikon 35mm f1.8 G that I have coming in the post. I just wanted to make sure I was up to date. I was a bit disappointed with the sharpness of the pictures it took at first and thought that the camera was needing realigned because my shots taken on a tripod using self timer were not as sharp I'd expected. I have found out very differently this morning though! I discovered the rangefinder feature in the camera and as I will be using the camera for mostly landscape and city shots, I will be using manual focus with some old Carl Zeiss lenses I still have from my Contax RTS11. I have a D40X and only got the D3200 body as I intended to get the 35mm lens for it. Anyway, this morning, using the rangefinder, I took a handheld manual focus shot of my wife and did a bit of pixel peeping at 100%, 1:1 and wow even with the non-VR older 18-55mm lens, it shows the pores on her skin and the veins in her eyes! I took a crop of just the left eye and no loss. I can't wait to try the 35mm lens.
Ah, that's a very valid reason then. You're going to love the 35mm 1.8, I liked it a lot when I had a D40.
One of the most awesome things about the lowest end Nikon camera body is that you can almost mount any F-mount lens you want on it without worrying about damaging anything.

Thanks

"I had compatibility issues with my 2 Sigma lenses on my D5100 - I sent them to Sigma 6 months ago and the problem was fixed, now Nikon bricked the new D5300 and DF with a new magical firmware code again. "
