I saw this on a post in DPReview and was wondering if anyone else has heard this?? "...within next 6 / 12 months, expect Nikon to release the already patented 16-35 f/2.8 VR ...."
I shoot the current version (and love it, even though all the pixel peeping review writers tell me I shouldn't ) I would be hard pressed to imagine Nikon releasing a lens of that focal range and adding the weight and cost of VR to it, given the relatively limited benefits. If Nikon was going to dump money in this lens I'd rather seem them focus on IQ.

+1 @proudgeek - definitely more the design budget into improving the IQ. We can do without some of the other items. The expectation should always be on better images.
