Would not call this my best dog photo. My wife found this border collie in our yard. She was having a hard time walking and we thought she might have been hit by a car. We took her to an emergency vet clinic. After examining her we realized that she had been dropped off in our neighborhood by her owner. Her nails had been recently trimmed and she had very few ticks and fleas. She could only walk a few feet before she would collapse in pain. She was extremely malnourished (she weighed less than half of what she should have weighed) and had severe arthritis's. The vet gave us some pain medication and medication for her arthritis and sent her home with us. After about a few we saw no improvement and she was still in extreme pain. We ended up having to put her down. I do not understand how someone could drop her off and leave her to either die a slow and painful death or force someone else make the difficult decision to put her down. Despite being in so much pain she was a sweet, kind and loving dog. Rest in peace Sam.
