Is there going to be a p7800 replacement anytime soon?

I was a little disappointed in the recent announcements, had hoped for a 7800 replacement, p8000 (or whatever), I'm slowly moving toward buying a sony which i promised myself I wouldn't do.

Any rumors, guesses, etc. about a p8000 I might have missed?

Don't really know anything about compact cameras but the P900 looks interesting. Might see if the wife would like one.

looking for something similar to the Sony Cyber‑shot DSC‑RX100 III, will fit in an outer pocket.

p900 and p7800 are entirely different concepts - high end compact with manual control, fast lens and RAW, adapting accessories from DSLRs (microphone, GPS, cable release) vs. bridge with superzoom fro here to Mount Everest, "whereever" here is.

Sold my P7800 because I found the old horse Canon G11 easier to ride. And a lens cap on a compact? please….
