Hi, Do you have any experience with a remote control for a D810 that is good for traveling. I want something that is small, light weight, and easy to use.
Robert M. Poston: D4, D810, V3, 14-24 F2.8, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 80-400, 105 macro.
Look at RFN-4s at amazon. Golf and I have it. I used it on the d800/d810. I have used it a few times when needed. It works great. I exchanged the first one as it was not working withing the year and amazon replaced it. The only issue I have had is doing dslr selfies and If I don't get AF lock it will save the shutter releases until it does. If I press it 3 times it will fire 3 times when it does have AF lock.
The is also the shutterboss wirelless but that one costs more.
Which cheap wifi? The one for the D800 is the WT-5a plus UT-1 for like $1400. Am I missing something?
WR-A10 + WR-T10 = $160 I'm sure there is a pocket wizard solution for cheaper...
Yes, I stand corrected. That's really weird how Nikon blocks compatibility with their higher level FX cameras. I was thinking that the WU-1A would work but I haven't tried it. It works for the 7100 and the Df, but strange that it would not work with the 810.
I will be forced to take a mobile phone, so the CamRanger seems like a reasonable solution. But the RFN-4s looks reasonable as well and it looks like the smallest option. Has anyone tried the iUSBportCamera?

I love my CamRanger. I used it to shoot portraits of seniors at a church that ministers to people in their 70s and older, and everyone loved looking at the iPad while I was working. For some reason, it was very accessible to even the nonagenarians.

I also have the Solmeta. Usually the battery is empty when I want to use it and I find the setup overly complicated. Same goes for CamRanger, cables, WLAN setup takes so much longer than just starting Nikon app and use the inbuilt transmitter of D750, or switch that to infrared.
I use this. Came free from B&H with my D800. Does the job, although the part that fits into the hot shoe makes it hard to look through the viewfinder. There are easy ways around this, including taping it to one of your tripod legs. There are probably higher end ones out there, but this one suits my limited needs just fine.
The Phottix Aion also works nicely. It's bigger and more expensive than the RFN-4 but better built. The tx rx pair are about the same size together as an old pocketwizard.
