How many millions of photoes are there just like this? Taking a "I have been there." shot is inevitible no matter how hard you try not to be a "mere" tourist.
@ggbutcher: I took these about 20 miles northeast of Delta Junction, out in the barley fields.
That's an interesting story, the attempt to agriculture-ifie the Delta region. So, in that same area used to be a place called Clearwater Lodge, on the Clearwater River, of course. The river is hot-spring fed, so it flows all year, and the lodge was the only place you could consistently count on decent food. It burned down last year, to the surprise of no one, as it smelled like it was on fire all the time from the pellet stove. Here's a pic from the corner table, looking at the river:
Even more impressive than how fast the Audis are is how quiet. The combination of speed and lack of sound is a pretty effective cognitive dissonance generator.
Hummingbirds are hard to photograph--they never stop moving. This little guy was different, I think he wanted his picture taken. I was out shooting cactus flowers and was not setup for fast moving hummingbird, but how could I resist-- he actually stopped moving (a little). Enjoy!
