I finally got enough money for the 70-200 2.8 but I know canon is having a sale on their 70-200 right now, which was making me wonder if any sales on the nikon lenses are expected?

You can get a refurbished one direct from Nikon USA for $1900...and I wouldn't be surprised if cheaper somewhere else. That is what I would do.

Except you only get a 90 day warranty on refurbished lenses.
I bought a refurbished 70-300, and 6 months later it wouldn't autofocus properly, so most of the money I saved buying a refurb went to pay for the repair.
Just something to keep in mind.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Its frustrating that Canon has sales nearly all the time. Although not a lens, the 7Dm2 was $1300 the other day. The only thing posted on the main blog is that Nikon is going to raise prices in Canada. Maybe Nikon is planning a "sale" on these new raised prices LOL :D

The lens sale just ended. Don't expect next one until Jan 2016. It was run for one month and then extended another month.

As for the sale...what photobug said. They don't run a lens only sale very often. Usually it is a lens and body combo sale which I would expect in the next couple of months.. But of course Nikon could do something whenever they want that we don't know about.

As for the refurbished...the only thing in my signature not used or refurbished is the 35 f1.8 and S31. I saved significant money on everything I purchased. Everything came like new and worked flawlessly, except my newest body. I had to send my d5200 back for some adjustments, but of course it was free and been working great ever since. If I were going to save $50 I might not think about it. However certain items can have discounts of 25% or more. Just looked...about $500 savings on the 70-200 F2.8 VRII.

I always wonder if a manufacturer has too many sales, does this mean that their regular price is inflated?

Like these clothing and furniture stores that seem to have a "sale" every week of the year. Who are they kidding?

Thanks guys! I just placed my order, I don't think there will be a sale anytime soon, and I do need the lens.

Good move @Amyranth and welcome to NRF. Look forward to seeing your pictures on PAD...normally found at the top of the list under Forums.

Only thing I can think is if they are an authorized Nikon dealer or not.

I was in a camera store today and they had a refurbished 80-400 for sale for $750, looked brand new. Point being, with all these new lenes coming out good bargains are out there in the stores for refurbished prior models.
