At least this thread is in the "Fun and Weird" area of NRF..... )
For a group of people who don't like reading what Ken writes, you sure do spend a lot of time writing about him.
KR and NRF have a lot in common They both derive their income from PPC ( pay per click advertizing) They both rely on having a good search engine ranking ( this explains his frequent use of the common search engine query " the world's best xxx " They are both fun and wired They are both great time time wasters Occasionally they both provided some really useful information
You just have to understand KRs sense of humor. He thinks it is funny to vastly overstate some points just as he loves to oversaturate his colors. Once you can get past that his site contains tons of useful information.

Except for those bits that are purposely wrong :-) ..

Found KR when I bought my D70 and he was a Nikon shooter (that he always bought himself ;-) ) . I did find his site useful but gradually less so. I have often had to smile while reading his site but a few days ago I laughed out loud when he had a small piece about beings from other planets building the aztec temples. This is the 1970s Von Daniken hoax. Was his tongue firmly in his cheek or does he really believe that stuff.
One person who I find very useful is Steve Perry. For a person at my level of expertise and experience, i.e. moderate amateur, his videos are very informative.
It's sad that the individuals who are new to DSLR's put so much faith into KR articles. His over simplification and unusual views really send the wrong message to the newbie.

But do they ?
Lets be honest. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to buy a bad camera these days I spent ages advising a friend on a new camera He chose one because it had £50 off all his stuff is blurred, he shooting in very low light with the zoom cranked out to maximum despite this, he is very pleased with his bargain

Don't you just love it when stuff like that happens? Good advice ignored, rubbish results liked, but we just carry on trying to help people. ~X(

He is a happy bunny and that really is all that matters He bought Canon PowerShot SX400 which has an equivalent 720 mm lens He really needed a D4s and a AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR
I showed him if he sat down, rather than stand up, the results can be quite good
A lot of his stuff like this is quite good. Even his anti-tripod advice is good once you consider the context in which it is being provided. This is where he falls short, by failing to point out that if you progress to being a certain kind of photographer, his tripod advice does not apply.
Well.... there is some good info to be found on his site but he is prone to march out in front of the music. As in his "review" of the yesterday announced 200-500mm Nikkor lens:

He magically has got hold of one already:
Nikon tells us it will not work properly with older DSLRs and will not work properly on any 35mm camera. Older cameras cannot control the diaphragm and it will always shoot at f/5.6, which is probably where you'd be shooting it anyway.
Just for fun I tried it on my 1988 Nikon F4. It autofocuses, but there is no VR. It meters and auto-exposes — but it only shoots at f/5.6, which is where I'd always shoot it on film.
I tried it on my Nikon F6, and everything works fine — except it only shoots at f/5.6. I'd only shoot it at f/5.6 anyway, so I say Game On! for use with the F6.
I tried it on my Nikon FM3a, and it also works great, of course with manual focus, no VR and only at f/5.6.
Since this lens is usually shot wide-open, it's actually quite useful on 35mm cameras. Unlike G lenses, this lens always shoots at f/5.6 on older cameras, and that's usually where we want to shoot it.

I'll reserve final judgement until my own purchased sample is in my hand.
He claims his full reviews are based on stuff he has purchased, not been lent That does not stop him trying out a loan copy first He clearly has not fully tested this, as the weight he lists is specified by Nikon not his usual actual measured.
That is what I thought and then when you read close he says he paid/bought it.
Good comments by many on KR.
I think if you read his wording carefully, it is consistent with the gear being lent to him. He is careful to say he does not accept gifts, borrowing is not accepting a gift.

Hm, yeah. But if someone gets a review sample to do a write-up about, I suppose that gear has to be returned too? I mean, I don't think that Nikon just gave away a couple of hundred 800mm lenses worldwide, for example? So that would be borrowing too....
And who could lend him a lens at the moment that said lens is announced? That would only be the manufacturer, surely? Which will have those strings attached, that KR claims not to have... Or maaaaaaayyyyyybe a Nikon Ambassador that already is trying the lens out and lets KR play with it for half an hour, tops....

It reminds me of the posts on Canonrumors about DXO. No one there likes DXO but they will spend pages and pages writing about it.
Weird.

One big difference
NRF often refers to KR
KR never mentions NRF

+1 on @donaladejose comment. He does exaggerate.

This is where he falls short,
In fairness he does say There is no right and no wrong.
