D810 14bit raw?

Are we 100% sure that the D810 is producing 14bit raw files...... I have looked at a number of software packages and some report 14 bit un-compressed raw.... I have randomly seen the files being reported as 16bit raw...

In light of Sony mis-leading people about the bit depth of their raw files.... I am just wondering..... Are they 14bit or 16 bit..... Software bug maybe?

The nikon raw files have 14bits of useful data. If you convert to tiff you will have a 16bit file format, but you still only have 14bits of useful data.

I guess the scandal could be safely kept at bay if it turned out the files hold more data than advertised... less, now, ah,... that's where the fun starts.

I don't know.... I think they are over regulating diesels now...... They want you to buy un-leaded gas instead of diesel (At least in the US). The EPA needs to get its hands out of places it does not need to be in. :-)

It is hard to go diesel in the US. its either VW, maybe Mercede's and Ford, Dodge or Chevy trucks.... and then only the large trucks....

Chevy makes a diesel sedan, Jeep makes a grand cherokee with a diesel, BMW makes sedans and wagons, and yes, RAM trucks. Porche and Audi, but they are probably in the VW bus at this point.
