I keep track of the prices on this lens, even though I'm not ready to get one. But, there it is, tempting me to no end. I even handled a camera with one mounted at the local base exchange today; it could totally replace my 18-200.
Pretty nice little deal. ggbutcher won't you miss the extra reach of the 18-200 even if it is soft? This 18-140 is definitely lighter and a very good deal. Did you pull the trigger yet?
Looks like a good deal, although I'll keep using my 18-135 until it breaks. It does look like the mount is metal, so that's a big plus. I'm not sure how big of a difference VR has on battery life, but I consistently get over 1000 shots per charge on the D7000. I use the D7000 so infrequently now, I've only charged it 4-5 times total since I bought it around January of last year.
I'm planning on getting a 70-300 VR, so I'll pass on this.
They take your order for a lens for a price that seems to good to be true. The next day, a representative calls you to tell you that the lens was a "European model with no Nikon warrantee," and would you want to pay additional $200 for an American model. This information was NOT clear on the lens description page and you thought you were buying a standard factory lens. You tell them that you would rather cancel the order. They claimed that they had already shipped the order. You of course do not believe this was true, as they could not provide a routing number at this time. You were then told that they could "get it back" but they would charge an additional $42 to cancel the order, or you could pay the additional $200 and they would send you the American lens. Once you agreed to the additional $200, they provided a routing number. If you manage to actually get the con artist on the phone to cancel the order, good luck ever seeing a refund on your card.

What, do they sell you the lens from the D7200 kit and sell the D7200 later body only for "open" box?
Not too far off. Sell you the body and lens kit for "cheap" call after you order and say it doesn't include the lens or they are import or something and for $200 more dollars you can get what the website said you were getting. Or you can cancel your order and you owe a restocking fee of x dollars or x%. Too good to be true then check reviews. They have lots of reviews from unhappy people ;-)
I often buy from eBay. These days your rights are well protected so there is no risk. If things go bad, it just takes a little longer than taking it back to a local store.

I'll probably end up buying a re-furbed one down the line. In the meantime, the 18-200 is sharp enough to post to PAD...

Oh, and they are not an authorized dealer, so good luck in any event.
