EN-EL14 battery in the D5500

The D5500 comes with a new EN-EL 14a battery that is backward compatible, my question is, will the old style EN-EL14 battery work in the new camera properly with no issues. I am hoping to use one for a backup

Billkt the Nikon website says it will work. EN-EL 14a 7.2v 1239mAh 8.9Wh, EN-EL14 7.4v 1030mAh 7.7Wh. Off the Nikon website. Price difference is $20. B-)

Of course the user manual only mentioned the EN-EL 14a battery. Thanks for checking the Nikon website. I have a spare EN-EL14 from my D5100 to use.

Yep they both work. Supposedly better longevity for the 14a , but you can buy two of the 14 for the price of one 14a.
