nikon lens mods

Greetings,

I just did a search which came up with nothing. I also paged back, page by page ALL the way back through Jan 2013 and saw nothing! What i am looking for is the articles that referenced some lens modifications. I did find the one on the macro, where you remove the front element. I remember there were a few articles with links, perhaps one after another. I have done a general internet search and think i have a lot of what was referenced. But, Admin, I wonder why those articles were removed. I KNOW they were there. :-)

I am interested in any information online regarding modification of nikon lenses, old or new.

I suppose with my web search I have uncovered it all but any info appreciated, and also comments on such projects if anyone has attemped them.

People modify the 10.5mm DX fisheye all the time for FX users. They saw off the petals of the metal built in lens hood and it does a fairly good job.

Check out the photos done by MsMoto, she has a whole bunch there.

Didn't hear about the removing the front lens element to get a macro lens. Do you have a more detailed link to doing that?

I've heard people do a poor man's tilt shift by removing the lens every so slightly off the camera though.

just looking for mod info in general. I have googled and now have more info that i can absorb right now. have a few older non ai lenses i want to try. just wondered what happened to the links to the mod articles

I remember reading that the front lens group was removed from - I think - a DX35mm f1.8 but I am not so sure it was an entire thread on its own, more likely a post in another thread but I could always be wrong. The search function isn't super.

Maybe he is asking about the mod to the mount for old lenses to work on new bodies. I think Msmoto had some pics and a link to where she had it done.

But be aware that to programme the chip you need an old nikon D70/80/90 with a top window a D7100/800/810 will lock the chip .

Read the words carefully with the macro lens mod to a 18-55....it says remove the front lens GROUP not the front element.
