A quick question. I'm upgrading from my D5100 and am considering a new D7100 or a refurb D7200. They are effectively the same price. I'm leaning hard toward the 72. Is there any reason not to go with the 72?
Nope. Get the refurbished 7200. It will come like new and should work excellent. If for some reason you had a problem it has a 90 day warranty to test it out and make sure there aren't any bugs...and lastly you could just return it to the store you purchased it from. But I think at this time you would want the newest camera if you can get it.
I use the D7100and D7200 almost every day. In truth I see very little difference. Since it is a refurbished ??? D 7200 they are pretty much like new....so I'd go with that! I use my 16-80on the D7200 due to.it's excellence, and use the Longer glass on the D7100 which I mostly use fr telephoto stills.
When you get the refurb and come to re sell it the refurb history is gone and certainly the 7200 will be worth more second hand than the 7100 in the future .
The D7200 arrived. Looks like new. Did a quick and dirty AF check (ala Nasim) and all was good. Ran about 30 frames off over the weekend with the body behind a 24-85 Nikon and the results look great. It really is quite a bit of an improvement over my D5100 [/gross understatement]. Thanks to all who offered advice.
