UK prices jump with Brexit ....Buy Now !!!

24th august I bought a Samyang 85mm from Jessops ( Major UK retailer) for £185 checked today and its £295.
I have not noticed any price changes in lenses or cameras grey on ebay and this lens is still £219 inc post duty etc from Ireland ( bringing items in from outside EU will cost you +25% in VAT and charges)

Wierd - last time I looked Brexit had not happened and was not likely to even start until 2017. However there have been a series of companies looking to exploit the uncertainty to make bigger profits - so I guess Samyang is just another profiteer.

Yes, but that is only a 13% drop vs a 59% rise - so Samyang is profiteering.

Profiteering is the reward you get for making a good product. It is not as if they have a monopoly or captive market.

Global companies that operating in multiple currencies have to hedge themselves against these fluctuations, and adjust prices accordingly. It would be better to look at the Pound (GBP) vs. the Yen (JPY) to understand these price corrections.

Big Pound dip today: if you have foreign currency and buying ability in the UK, right now is a good time! I haven't done any comparisons, but I have to believe there are deals to be had.

The UK prices don't change fast with the dollar variations...the only way to save would be to change $ into £ at just the right time then spend the £. not practical for joe public

One way to do just that is take a vacation or holiday. I remember back before the Euro I could have a five course meal with wine in France, put it on my credit card, and with the exchange rate (calculated on a daily basis) pay like $20 for what cost the locals 60 francs. Those were the days...

@Pistnbroke That is what I meant... If you have foreign currency, i.e. not pounds, and the ability to buy in the UK, there are probably deals to be had. Certainly not an option for everyone, but if the price is right one can usually find a way of making it happen... I bought my 14-24 up in Canada (using USDs) right when oil slipped and the Loonie dropped, saved 25% right off the top.
