The d850 is everything I don't want in a mirrorless camera . Silent yes but in the viewfinder not the LCD. I don't want blackout after a sequence of shots and I want the flash to work. As for the MP we are stuffed in DX to 20mp for production reasons as the pixel pitch is the same as the 46MP. Why do we have to go backwards?
30MP please in DX and 54+ for FX. If Olympus can put 20mp on a 4/3 then lets have more on DX and FX.
I also have concerns with the D850 that the JPEG files colour may not match my other Nikons which will be a problem at weddings if I mix cameras. So buy 3x D850 I don't think so

What percentage of lenses in the lineup can support that level of pixel density? Anyone know?

If you have "excess MP " on the sensor for the lens you are using you will just get the best IQ that the lens can produce. lots of people are using the 28-300 on a D850 and are happy. A good lens but not mega anything.

Don't get distracted by large numbers of pixels. The pixel density of a 24mp DX is greater than a 46mp FX. Noboby started screaming that the pictures of their D7100/D7200 was too soft to use becuase of that.
    Always learning.

I was more referring to @Pistnbroke’s post citing a desire for 30 mp DX and 54+ FX. From what I have heard (not personal experience) none of the current 50mm lenses are even quite good enough for the D850.

Even with the worst lenses the resolution will improve on cameras with more pixels. The difference between lenses is how much the resolution will improve. Think of it as a curve that flattens earlier on not so sharp lenses, but it will never be 100% flat.

Yes, my point was not in response to Pistnbroke's post, just saying that I had more of a problem with my D7100 than I have with my D850 in theory, but I haven't noticed noticed a problem with either.

... I want the flash to work...

What exactly do you mean by this? In terms of compatibility or not having the flash slow down during an extended sequence of use? If it's the latter you need a flash with LED lights, which will draw less power per flash which will lead to faster refresh times.

If you meant the former, I doubt Nikon will drop the flash hotshoe, but the current generation flashes will no doubt be refreshed leaving past generations not fully compatible.

If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.
