Statue in the centre of Bergerac, SW France.......forgot to get a shot of the details on the plinth, but assume it's about the French Revolution... D810 & 50mm f/1,8G 1/160s @ f/6.3 ISO 64.
Dennis. How old is the statue? It appears he's brandishing a bolt action rifle. Could be WWI or later.
RX4 Beautiful girl, She wouldn't be hurt by a couple of pounds (IMHO) - treat her to dinner.
Yes, the bolt action wasn't around for 35 years after the French revolution, then to make it reliable and in volume, add another 5 years to that. I'd say WW1 because they used that rifle and wheel tech in that war.
Emmmmmm.......paella tonight and blooming lovely it was too (and still a portion left for lunch!) D810 & 50mm f/1.8G 1/400s @ f/2.2 ISO 64. (Capt & Spray - I'm afraid I have to bow to your collective knowledge on this one, I just wish I had taken the time to read and photo the details on the plinth. I just assumed mainly due to the canon element that it would be revolution, but on further inspection I can see WW1 being more accurate.)
Capt/Spray - Went back to the original photo and it shows (just outside my original crop) the year as 1890 and the inscription "Rocbaud Jeune Paris 1890" which according to Wikipedia relates to quote: The First Franco-Dahomean War, which raged in 1890, was a conflict between France, led by General Alfred-Amédée Dodds, and the Dahomey under King Béhanzin. The French emerged triumphant after winning the Battle of Abomey. See pic... Excuse extra post but we must get to the bottom of this! Your thoughts guys?
Nice! I'm still loving my 7200 even after 50,000 clicks.
Thanks! I like it a lot so far. The bigger viewfinder and better AF in low light are very handy for what I do. I used to be practically seeing double after shooting my D5500 in dark areas. Now it doesn't bother me at all.
I almost had a disaster on Saturday - the 7200 (w/ 16-80 attached) fell off the tripod. Apparently I didn't have the quick disconnect mounted properly. Luckily I caught it. It still got a bit of a jolt but seems OK.

@Capt_Spaulding I've seen her slimmer … so this is better. She likes to stay right there.
