Which option will you prefer for a lens? In particular I´m looking for a Nikon 135 2.0 DC.

The refurbished 135 2.0 is $1,200 at Nikon shop ($1,080 with temporary -10% discount)

The grey one is $1,150 at BH ($1,300 with USA warranty)

Thank you,

Alfonso

    Hello and welcome Alfonso,

I highly recommend going refurbished. In fact, I got an email the other day that Nikon is having a sale on some of their lenses. Go here and you will see what they have to offer.

    Nikon Refurbished On Line Store.

    Happy shopping....

Interesting that at the NIKON Store the 85mm f/1.4 as refurb is $30 more than the new one....

One must research all the prices, and make certain you are ordering what you want. Some of the refurbished lenses are an older version. And, only a short warranty. So, I look at the cost of the refurb lens, add the cost of a three year warranty, then decide is this is a good deal or not.

  • I think the reason some of the refurbs exceed the price of new is because of the current rebates. I don't think Nikon has applied any part of the rebates to the refurbs. I'm guessing that's intentional since the goal of the rebates is likely to clear out unsold new inventory and discounting the refurbs might hinder that a bit.

Refurbished all the way. Like new...the grey market is getting you nothing more and from what I have heard can't get repaired. My refurbished lenses all came like new and have worked flawlessly.

Thank you all for your comments. I think I will go for a refurbished lens next time Nikon has promotion on them.

I just bought a new Nikon 85 1.8 with the discount, so I already have a new toy to play with.

    Thank you,

    Alfonso
