@mhedges where is that museum? The have a really nice water column...
So, from the same trip as my previous posts, here's something different:
Riding trains, I do what I call "grab landscapes". AF on whatever's in the center, highlight-weighted matrix metering, and an ISO that allow a quick shutter speed. I look ahead as we roll for gaps in the trees, and get ready for whatever is presented. I find that, if one rides trains through pretty places, one can get nice landscapes...
@ggbutcher Its at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer NC. About 45 minutes from me. I believe it has the largest still operational roundhouse left in the US. They did the N&W 611 restoration there.
@mhedges, thanks. Back east, I've just been to the Tennessee Valley endeavor in Chattanooga, and the little setup in Huntsville, AL. There's good railway restoration going on all over these days, with involvement of younger folk to boot. The fireman in one of my previous post is mid-20s...
Don['t forget the Rail Road Museum in North Freedom, Wisconsin. They run trains in the summer and then in the fall run some special trains. They do not have a roundhouse but lots of stuff to photograph. Highly recommended.
Crap as some people would say......the website is down for Flickr.

Here's one of my "money" shots, from the photo line that I paid for:

Here's one from the photographer's day I went to in the spring:
Nice one of the #611; I like that 'art-deco' look of the streamlined steam locomotives, #611 and SP #4449. Reminds me of reading Ayn Rand...
