Nikon 500 f/4 FL ED ...is there a lens cap instead of a hood ?

Hi all....while I dont hate the hood, would love a smaller lens cap , so I can fit more in my limited Pelican air...
I am surprised there isn't a piece of somewhat form slip on metal or plastic device ...the Don Zeck seems to not fit well from various posters on large photo retail. Is this true ?

Use the drop-down menu to select your lens. It says Nikon 500 f4 but that is all; it does not specifically say FL ED. So I am not sure if it will fit your model or if it's another 500 f4 model or if they are all the same? They list separate versions of the 600 f4, but not the 500.
