I haven't posted in a long, long time, but I've been here all along. I have a Nikon Z8. (I actually have two Z8s and a Z9, but this inquiry is only for one of the Z8s.) Last week we were preparing for an air show, so we charged up our batteries, I updated the camera's and lenses' firmware, and validated all settings were correct for the air show. I tested all three cameras and then packed them up for the air show. On Saturday morning we arrived at the air show and started getting ready. When I pulled out this Z8 I started taking some initial photos. Immediately there was an issue. Regardless of using single shot mode or high speed continuous, after every photo the view finder and/or the live view screen would garble into a kaleidoscope-like mess. I don't know how else to describe it. It was a mostly greenish hew, completely garbled, but with a faint hint of the view, meaning I could make out the outline of the airplanes in front of me and the focus square was visible, but everything was significantly shifted upwards. The camera was recording the images onto the QD card and the images looked perfect. I did all the troubleshooting I could think of. I swapped lenses. I then did a full factory reset of the firmware. None of this made a difference. I eventually just shut the camera down and we used the two remaining cameras for the air show. Now moving to Monday, I was going to contact Nikon customer service. I pulled the camera out and stepped outside to take some "confirmation shots" because I assumed Nikon would want to see images with exif data to try and help them diagnose the issue. I wasn't sure how I could capture the viewfinder though. But none of that mattered, because at this time, the camera worked perfectly. The viewfinder worked perfectly, the images were captured perfectly. I've done a cursory search of the internet but haven't found any similar experiences. I'm hoping someone can find something to suggest how I might remedy this situation and prevent this from happening again. Thanks everyone.
