D800 - black monitor display

Hello - anyone experienced this -

D800 was fine one minute then next shot and several subsequent just displayed as black on the image screen. Changed lens - removed replaced battery - no difference. Used same lens and settings on D700 - no issues.

Camera now gone back under warranty.

Anyone experienced this ?

I suppose you reset the camera to default prior to sending it back for warranty?

And, was the image on your memory card?

And, do you follow all the directions such as power down when changing cards, lenses?

How many clicks on the camera?

I couldn't find how to reset back to default - no images on card just black like a very under exposed shot - I had not changed lens or card prior to the issue happening - I had used the camera only about 10 minutes before with no problem.

One possibility is that the aperture lever on the camera is faulty. That could result in what you've seen. Either that or the shutter or sensor has failed.

Shutter is activating so possibly sensor then - first time I have had a problem with a Nikon in many years

Thanks for the info - never had to reset a Nikon before as all my others have been fault free. Still waiting for D800 to come back - told could be up to a month !
