My biggest fear is that I'll come to a point where my motivation to seek new ways of seeing things will falter and I'll loose the love of image making.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

So true spraynpray and as you get older you are more concerned about eating and pi$$ing than cameras. You only worry about the cameras they can push inside you.

Ha Ha ..not quite got there yet.

It's not a fear, but at times, I feel like I should really learn how to turn the damn thing off and enjoy the f*** moment while I'm right there instead of trying too hard to conserve it for the years to come.

    I have two fears:

    1. Bumping a setting accidentally while shooting concerts because you don't have time to recheck your settings.

    2. Drunk biker ladies broads in the crowd.

Both these fears become reality way too often.

Having my camera bag fall over while open and having all the lenses hit the pavement out of my truck.
    Forgetting batteries for my flashes.
Having my flash trigger (odin) break in the middle of a shoot.

That is just the thoughts that went through my head today. Each day realizes another fear that never comes to pass. (knock on wood.)

One advantage of not being a working pro is not having to worry about results. However, I worry, actually about nothing. But, I do forget to adjust equipment properly, and if I do not have it adjusted correctly, find out in the middle of a shoot, well then I worry about anyone hearing the words I am using to vent my frustration with old age.....most begin with consonants. :D

Kenadams, I couldn't agree with you more. Just got back from Yellowstone and Glacier this summer and went with a bunch of family. To me it was a bucket list place to shoot, and to my family it was time to spend together. Funny, I was so busy taking pictures of the landscape, barely have anything of the family (other than on the phone). Didn't spend as much time as I should have enjoying the moment as I did waking up at 4:30AM all vacation to place myself where I wanted for sunrise. But of course, the one morning I slept in at Glacier, was the one day I regretted. Moon would have been perfect at sunrise and setting right behind the mountain at Many Glaciers. Next day it was too high.

Reality is, digital has saved me from most of my fears. I had a trip to Hawaii years ago. Didn't realize that the light meter was a mess until I got home and had 8 rolls of Ektar 125 were all terribly underexposed (Ektar had jack for latitude). I've never been back to Hawaii, and don't know when I'll have a chance again. I wondered at the time why I had no issues with light on that trip :-).

    My biggest fears are
    1. Being arrested/assulted by the police/security because they think only a terrorist would ever take a picture of an old bridge
    2. Being assulted/shot because someone did not like me taking their picture (even if they were not the subject) or a picture of their kids while they were out in public.

    ... Being arrested/assulted by the police/security....
That almost happened to me in Minsk several years ago. Frankly speaking, Minsk is an ugly town, but great for shooting dilapidated Soviet era architecture. But in my walking around I found an absolutely beautiful building and started shooting it. I was quickly hustled away by my translator when an armed security officer started pointing at us and yelling. It was the Presidential mansion, and photography was not allowed. My translator had actual terror in her eyes. And yes, we got out in a hurry.

We went to the botanic gardens, where there were no restrictions on photography.

It is rare that they get better...all you can hope for is that the changes slows down. Mine did for years.

Greatest fear is that my D60 will seize-up on a job. Just decide it has had enough. Definitely need a new body in order to have a backup/spare. I guess that goes for any gear. It wouldn't be fear if it's just me tinkering as usual, but for (hopefully) paying gigs it'd be fearfully embarrassing.
