    Msmoto:
"Could it be, the D6XX is a bad dream for Nikon, and that they are looking toward elimination of any D6XX bodies, now that the "replacement" policy has been put into place and the lawsuits most likely nearly all resolved by this move. But, elimination of the D6XX may be in the works to become completely free of the association with the D600 disaster. "
    Msmoto,
What "D6XX replacement policy" are you referring to? Nikon has not offered to replace my D600. I just got my D600 back from Melville NY for an out of warranty "Good will" cleaning. And Nikon replaced the Shutter Mechanism on my D600 again.

@jshirley - look for the D600/D610 forum located right here on Nikon Rumor Forum and you will find discussions. Best is to click on the Blog button and scroll to the bottom and then click on the history/previous button. You need to go back about 2 months. There is a post of the Nikon statement about the D600 replacement policy.

In my opinion your close to a free replacement to a D610. Or run the search using the goggle search located in the upper right side of any page here on NRF.

Well I ordered a D750 and it's on the way - anyone want any more information once I have it in my hands or at this point is there enough out there already?

I also have a D800E and a D3s for any direct comparisons anyone wants there. If it goes well, both of those bodies will be up for sale and the replacement will be a second D750. :)

I'd love to get your feedback on this camera, just your overall thoughts in general. I think I really appreciate the viewpoint from a practical standpoint than I do the numbers, detail reviews. I like those too, but there's a lot of value in a photographer who picks up a camera, has a good frame of reference (knowledge, experience, good cameras) and says "Hey, this is what I think..." Can't get enough of that.

So by all means, share whatever you are thinking about it when holding it, using it, etc.

    Thanks Postman

Way off topic, but here you go:

    Thank you Msmoto.
And I'm so sorry to Ironheart, but, as you know, Msmoto's quoted comments about the the D6xxx are from the discussion on this D750 thread.

Thank you, Ironheart, for the links.

It's just that every time I buy a new camera, a newer version of it is released - the next year (D7100 and D610)I own the D7000, and D600.

Now I want a D750. But if I jump on this, the D755 will not be far behind. I know you can not keep up with new technology, but I seem to keep picking the beta versions of the improved finished products that soon follow. I do not like playing the technology waiting game. I'm slowly learning to avoid the first version.

It's all about timing. Some people wait so long they buy after the model has been out there for 12-18 months and Nikon use to update models after 18 to 24 months. It seems to be dragging out more. So buying the D750 now is a good decision...the replacement is at least 18-24 months in the future.

Also remember by waiting you miss the opportunity of using the new technology. I won't not say the D700 was a beta version. The D600 was rushed to market and there were quality issues that should not had happened. Don't be procrastinate...help the economy. :D

That assumes that every time a new product is released there at bugs to work out. Nikon has been making cameras for a long time to make such assumptions. Maybe just wait a few months and see if anyone has any reliability issues. Since I got my d750 two weeks ago all the reviews have been very positive if not stellar... Besides the D755 may be very similar to the D750 that it would not be worth upgrading... So you have a few years at least to enjoy it. Life is too short to wait :)

Early adopters surely pay their fee.. just look at windows, which is released as a beta version and then completed with service packs on the users' desktops...

I mostly like how the D610 and D750 bring down the prices of used D800s ;-).

Updates will drag out more. The technology is starting to mature.

I would wait six months. I don't need the latest and greatest. Reliability is more important to me and six months is long enough for issues to arise and for them to be fixed.

I've been lucky enough to buy two new Nikons while the models were young and both were flawless (D7000 & D7100) but after the D600 drama that was made into a crisis, I will wait to be sure. It's hard waiting though!

Same here. My d7k was great with no issues and D300 was the same.

I spent a lot of time today with the manager of the local camera dealer. He did not anticipate the sharp drop in in price for the used D800. He has sold 8 used ones which were taken in trade on D810's. He dropped the price $400 to $500 on used D800 since the D810 was introduced.

Speaking of the D800. He is sitting on a new in the box D800.

D800E or even a D800 for sure. But a used D800 or D800E? Not so sure.

Yes, spraynpray, it is hard to wait. The new D750 looks so good good for me. But I must hold back, mostly because the disposition/reliability/replacement of my D600 has been in question for so long now.

    Once bitten/twice shy.

It depends. :D What do you shoot and how do you want to use it? If your shooting weddings, portraiture, landscapes the D800E is probably the way to go. Are you enlarging to insane sizes, wall posters, then it's the D800E.

The D800's are selling used here for $1700-$1,800. I saw a D800E go for $2,000. Shutter counts varied from less than 500 to 25,000 so I though they were good deals especially when some of them did not have a mark on the body.

I like Macro best.. and my 70-200 F4 (street, random details/patterns, general flora/fauna). Other than that just general photos.. and scenery.

For some the D800E is better than a D800 but it's splitting hairs. The higher used price reflects the difference of the new cameras. No surprise to me.

  • You can get D600 a replacement if the spot issue is not fixed. Mine was good when the shutter was replaced and it still is a super camera. For me the D750 is very usefull, the better AF when it is dark (but I have a solution for that) and the tilt screen. 3 times on my knee is the limit now, due to my age :). I don't think I get better photo's if I buy the D750.
Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it!

What is the solution? For half the people on this thread, the solution is spending more on the sensor or faster lens. It would be great to hear yours Ton.

Is that true, that D750 have the same AF system as D4s? Do you guys know anything about this?

Anyone tried shooting sport with D750 already? What do you think?

Received an ad today from 17th Street Photo Supply and they have several Nikon specials. The two that caught my eye:
    D750 + 24-120 VR lens, $2999.95, a $600 instant savings
    D7100 + 18-140 DX VR lens, $350 instant savings, $1349.95

Surprised to see the lower price on the D750.
