For those who are interested, Amazon is selling a lot of Sandisk stuff for cheap today. I got a 32 gig SD card for $14.

USB drives and MicroSD cards are cheap too. The 128 gig MicroSD card is $89.

Edit- looks like there are no compact flash cards on sale though.

    Those are slow cards, though.

    Best bang for your buck are the Samsung Pro 32GB cards. $19.99 each and highly rated in a test.

    Not bad for a little side mass storage.

    Unfortunately, the king is still not on sale; SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB UHS-1/U3 SDHC Memory Card Up To 95MB/s

    Here is a nice side-by-side compare of write speeds on the D750; Camera Memory Speed.

    And I'm gonna try these; Samsung 32GB PRO Class 10 SDHC up to 90MB/s 90MB/s read, 80MB/s @ 19.99

    Yes, this SanDisk Extreme Pro card rated at 95BM is the way to go. When it comes to writing from the buffer to the card and from the card to the computer, the faster is always better.

    Here is a serious question about the speeds.

    If I currently have 200x cards, will I really see that much difference by moving to a 600x card if I do not shoot action?

    If I am using my internal SD card reader on a MacBook Pro rated at "up to 5Gb/sec" in conjunction with Lightroom 5 and an external SSD drive connected via USB 3.0, what will I really experience?

    In terms of in camera speed, that depends on the camera model you use. A 200x car could take 2 seconds to write one D800(E)/D810 file, while a 400x takes 1 second, and a 600x even less. You would notice the speed difference from the faster cards the most when you are moving photos to your computer.
    If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

    @PB_PM I shoot a D750.

    I'm torn since I just bought the Lexar Platinum II cards (200x) not too long ago.

    I guess for now, I'll keep what I have and just enjoy taking pictures.

    @Hammie

    I've deduced that we're next door neighbors, and if you'd like to borrow one of the Sandisk 95mb/s read 90 mb/s write cards to see if you notice the difference let me know.

    @calengor That is too funny!

    I appreciate the offer on the card. I'll let you know. I'm in no hurry right now. Thanks!

    You know, I didn't really look at the speed of the card when I bought it, but I figured I don't do video so ultra high speed cards shouldn't really be a necessity for me. Looks like the card I bought was somewhere in the middle. I wish the card ratings weren't so weird. It was a class 10 card, but I guess there are high end and low end class 10 cards. The names certainly don't tell you anything about how fast they are.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Should be fast enough for me.

    All class 10 means is that it will read and write an a minimum of 10MB/s. Those class ratings are basically meaningless, you need to dig deeper. A class 6 card, could in theory be faster than a Class 10 card, if it is a high end Class 6 vs a low end Class 10. Now if you don't shoot in burst mode often, and tend to shoot slowly, I doubt the speed rating would make much difference.

    Space in memory is something that maybe is the second option to take a look at (unless you has 8gb or 16gb).... But speed is always good even if you dont shoot sports.... Transfer files save a lot of time... Also, there is always a moment when you need to take a couple of pictures as fast as possible without fighting with the buffer of the camera....

    +1 @JCTibu - so many people don't gt it and buy cheap (SLOW) memory cards. You hit the nail on the head with your message.
