    Nice shots.

I have only tested mine on charts, will get into the field soon.

IMHO it is the best hand holdable option for Nikon.

Has anyone got full size unsharpened pictures/charts I can look at at ? My current wildlife rig is a Mk1 600mm F4 AF-S and a Sigma 180mm 2.8 Macro. I am considering getting this to fill the gap/use as a casual walkaround, but I am so spoilt with the sharpness and micro contrast from the primes I am afraid a zoom would be a disapointment.......for example here is a shot of a goldfinch that is a 100% crop, ( IE its a crop of 1300x900 pixels out of a 7000x4000 pixel original )

yeah, I rented one of these lenses to try it out; check image quality and see how it handled as a hand-held lens. Got it for a couple more days. So far I like it a lot. Sure, it's a bit more to swing around than my 300/4 D, but that extra focal length is nice!

@dissent: I suppose it is the wrong time of year for an air show Ian?

The easiest way to share full resolution pics is Flikr - if you upload them there, FLikr will allow download of original size.

The only way I know to share original .NEF files is to upload them to Dropbox, dropbox lets you share a link so that other people can download them.

If you are using a standard chart I will do a comparison with the 600 and the Sigma 180, it would be very interesting to see if the older primes still perform !

Yeah, though I'm about 2 minutes from a small plane landing strip that might be good to practice from.

I wonder where they run big air shows in the southern hemisphere. Bit of a long drive, though.
