Interesting web site from the main blog..

https://explorecams.com/stats/top/models

Some interesting ones I noted ...
* Top lense for the D500 is the 200-500 !
* D500 most used ISO is 100, second most used is 10000
* D600 Second most used lens is the DX 18-70 !!
* D7200 most used lens is the 18-140 , 18-140 doesn't even appear in the D500 top 50 lenses..

    It shows that if you own an expensive camera body you own and use expensive lenses IMHO.

    4 Canons in the Top 5 most common DSLRs on the the web with 3 of them being FF...

    And D500 not in the top 50 of 12 million images in 2016 where as the D80 , Canon 400D, D3000, 5D have all made it 10-12 years after their intro ?

    I am trying to be not sceptical about the data collection & accuracy.

    I think it is a good and clever attempt for something that can really be useful but they need to figure out where the flaws originate from.

    The fact that a full frame camera is in the top five makes me wonder about what kind of biases have made it into the data.

    I first assumed they used stock sites like Shutterstock when I first saw the high percentage of FFs, but that's not that they are saying.

    Its probably more people who shoot more and post more use FF and use canon.. pretty logical to me.. And D500 is new.. cant have that many photos accumulated yet.

    From https://explorecams.com/blog/
    "This infographic assembled by Explorecams meta-data, to collect and analyze over seven million photos which have been posted on an assortment of websites, including Flickr, 500px and Pixabay, with ExifTool technology."

    Interesting that Canon and Nikon are roughly tied, but the top 4 cameras are Canon. Perhaps Nikon has more cameras on the market, so the results are more fragmented. Or Canon only makes a few good cameras :wink:

    I think these are worthless statistics. To quote Disraeli "There are three kinds of lies, lies, damned lies, and statistics"!
