Alva agreed to do a shoot so I could test my newest lens, the Sigma Art 85 f/1.4
It does look like it will need some adjustment. The photos I took @ 1.4 were all out of focus. This was shot @ f/2.5

Test shot - Sigma 85 Art

These contact lenses freaks me out whenever she wears them around the house, but I presume that is the intended effect? :-)

@Gjesdal when I got my Nikon 85 f/1.4G I sent it, along with my D800, to Nikon USA in New York to have them both looked at and calibrated if necessary. It's been sharp as a diamond cutter since then. The tough part is being steady enough to shoot handheld at 1.4.

Well yesterday I spent over 6 hours taking pictures of Bald Eagles and other birds of prey. So I am following up over the next two weeks with photos from the Bald Eagle Watching Days, Prairie du Sac, WI. The first ones were indoors from the Birds of Prey presentation and the balance will be outdoor pictures.

I would suggest just working with the fine tuning, and failing that, getting a Sigma dock. Sigma says that every single one of the 85s is individually tested for proper focus, but mistakes can be made. It might not be the lens, either. I used to adjust my lenses until I realized that a lot were being adjusted to the same number.

I've thought about shipping my camera, most likely culprit, and my two Sigma Art lenses to be calibrated, but can't do that just now as I'm not sure they will be back in time for a photographic trip I'm going on soon.

Glad I've returned to the gym, the combo Sigma 85 Art + D810... it's heavy :-)

Isn't that why we have polarizing filters? :-)
Cameras, lenses and stuff. (I actually met someone once who had touched a real Leica lens cloth.)
