There was notice on the home page here about that a few weeks back IIRC.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

@paulr I received the same email. This is what the D810 support page has listed for firmware updates:

It has been noted that the upgrades for D7100 and D810 are causing autofocus problems with some sigma lenses ..notably the 50-500 Beware ..check it out on Nikongear

I wish I searched for this before I installed the 1.13 on the D810 and the firmware on my D7100... as it disabled my Sigma 150-500. I did this upgrade in March 2017, but I don't use the 150-500 that much...
Was on my way to an airshow when I stopped along the way to take a photo of a horse...
After I realized it was a firmware issue, but before I had a chance to ship my lens, Nikon released 1.14 of their firmware. This didn't solve the issue.

So I shipped it Thursday and it was back in my hands Monday (yesterday). I was told by the place I bought it, that since it was older than 5 years I would have to pay for the work done on my lens, but seems like Sigma (I presume) stepped up and put this on warranty.
I missed the airshow, but very impressed with how quickly it was fixed. (I live in Norway btw)

I wonder if 3rd party lens problems caused by Nikon firmware revisions ("revision" is a more neutral word than "upgrade"):
    1. can be fixed by a complementary firmware revision by the lens manufacturer?
    2. if yes to the above, do Sigma and other lens manufacturers actually provide such post sale support?

My 2 Sigma Art series can be upgraded with their USB dock
And from their site it looks like they do.
I've not done it yet, but perhaps I should get the USB dock.

That's all good so long as Sigma come up with the updates...

My advice is if the camera is working fine for you and you don't have any of the problems the update is supposed to solve then leave it alone . If you have anything third party, lens, grip, battery then you risk problems by doing the update .

That essentially was my question. Do third party manufactures in general counter Nikon updates, and is Sigma, with its "dock", more likely to do this?
