Or might it be that the D7000 doesn't have a wireless function?

I believe that only works with WIFI enabled SD cards on the D7000.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

The Camranger will work with your camera no cables
Camera, Lens and Tripod and a few other Bits

Yeah I'm pretty sure those don't exist.

They’ve been around for 5-6 years. “Eye-Fi” branded. Panasonic and Transend sell them as well,

Eye-Fi is now Keenai. I have the Eye-Fi Mobi Pro 32gb, the card is slow, but worked good on the D300 and the D600. With the D600 I use the Nikon WU-1B. The WiFi adapter WU-1A works with the D7100 (and other Nikon's) but I cannot find anything that such an adapter works with the D7000.

There isn't one Ton. That was an irritation I felt when using the D7000.
    Always learning.

Pity he, I changed my D300 for the D7200, with € 100.- cashback it was a bargain.

I use the app: "Camera Connect & Control", made for Nikon and Canon but Android only, this app has everything you wish. Tether wireless on my tablet, works great for the D7200 and the D600 with the WU-1b adapter, only the range from the WU-1b is much less then advertised 5 to 8 meter max by me, about the same as the Eye-Fi card, not that far. Better to use "Camranger" like systems.
