Will there be a Z 300 2.8 ?

CanonRumors has unearthed some new patents for Canon R 300 2.8 with built-in 1.4 extender. I was curious why no one yet has made a mirrorless 300 2.8 . Now that Canon is at least speculated as coming out with one, will Nikon follow? Adding a built-in teleconverter increases the usefulness of a lens like this dramatically in my opnion.

Nikon has produced a 300mm f2.8 lens since 1977. You would think they would produce one in Z mount as soon as they finish filling out the current roadmap. https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/300mm-f28-history.htm I don't know why it isn't on the current roadmap. For some reason has it become less attractive than it had been in the past? Maybe Nikon is first making larger leaps from 200mm to 400mm to 800mm and then will come back to fill in the gaps of smaller leaps such as 300mm and 600mm. Maybe Nikon is just trying to cover more territory quickly at first and then will fill in the gaps later.

I expect a Z mount 120-300mm f/2.8 TC to really nail that concept. But it is case of do you want a 300 f/2.8 or are you buying it because it is a cheaper 400 f/2.8?
