D7100: Turning of the LCD in LiveView

Hi,

As far as I know the mirror does not move when taking photos in LiveView mode, but I was wondering if the LCD can be turned off in this mode without having an external monitor attached to the camera?

The reason for this is because I need to take several hundred pictures for a panoramic HDR image and the faster this is done the easier the post processing gets. Using LiveView would eventually end up in doing the whole thing a lot faster, because I could avoid using Mup, but it would essentially eat my battery I guess and heat up the sensor. I've asked the Nikon support the same question, but the seem to ignore stupid ones xD

I do not believe their is a way to turn the LCD in live view on any of Nikon D-SLR's. Taking hundreds of panoramic HDR is no easy task. I would recommend having the optional battery grip which will allow you to have longer running time due to the additional battery that you can put in it.

Live view isn't live view anymore if the LCD is off...

I guess what you want is called dead view. There's always the EP-5B/EH-5B, but you need A/C power. Although, I've run mine off of a car battery with an inverter.
