Yes, and at the cost of an f/2.8 16-35 mm lens (guess $1995) , one can purchase a 24mm f/1.4 or for half the cost the Sigma 35mm f/1.4.

I guess I wish for a D800 FX/DX.... only change to the present D800 would be a magnification in the viewfinder when in DX mode so you see a full view instead of a crop view in the red box....is this possible?

Maybe a Nikon radio trigger for the CLS. That's an open issue on their end.

I would like a FX Viewfinder camera, maybe with the D800 sensor, a high end EVF and a high end set of lenses. The Nikon 1 system is more a gimmick imho.

I went with the Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 for just around $825. It gives me the 2.8 but I do think every once in awhile I wouldn't mind the 16-35 for the VR. In the end, it was the distortion (or lack of any) with the Tokina that drew me to it.

As for bokeh - I find anything under 40mm and 2.8 and over is not a real focus/goal in my shooting. Get too close (to optimize bokeh) and the subject can start to morph and most times it is not possible to move further away from the background. I just focus on the subject and do a bit of blurring/unsharpen in post.

I think DX users would be desiring a 57mm 1.4 (85mm equiv). I think that will be the test to see if Nikon will release a DX mirrorless camera - If they start to make or even start filing patents on 16/23/57/70mm (24/35/85/105 equiv) primes.
    D800, D300, D50(ir converted), FujiX100, Canon G11, Olympus TG2. Nikon lenses - 24mm 2.8, 35mm 1.8, (5 in all)50mm, 60mm, 85mm 1.8, 105vr, 105 f2.5, 180mm 2.8, 70-200vr1, 24-120vr f4. Tokina 12-24mm, 16-28mm, 28-70mm (angenieux design), 300mm f2.8. Sigma 15mm fisheye. Voigtlander R2 (olive) & R2a, Voigt 35mm 2.5, Zeiss 50mm f/2, Leica 90mm f/4. I know I missed something...

My sentiments exactly. I'm totally in love with my D800 (don't tell the misses ;) ) but I don't have it with me all the time. I've looked at compact cameras and none of them are really up to the level that I want.
I want a full frame viewfinder (potentially with all the useful features of something like the Fuji X20) and a reasonably fast (f2.8) limited zoom lens (let's say 24-70).
This would be the ideal carry everywhere camera for me.
